The first episode of the next-to-last season will premiere on July 16.
HBO has finally announced the release date for the new season of the iconic Game of Thrones series. Millions of fans of George RR Martin’s books will return to screens on July 16 to see what happened to the characters.
The premiere date for season 7 was announced on the series’s official Twitter account. The news came with a 1.5-minute teaser showing sculptures of sigils of the major houses and key phrases from the previous seasons. The teaser brings the audience to the idea that however much the houses fight for power against one another, time for the main battle against a common enemy is coming.

The fans following the series’s page on Facebook could take part to the intriguing ceremony of the premiere data announcement. About 160,00 viewers watched almost an hour-long live stream showing a giant block of ice with the premiere date inside it. In the final minutes, viewers were encouraged to type “fire” in comments to melt the ice.
Season 7 of Game of Thrones will consist of seven episodes instead of usual ten. Shooting of the last season will begin in September. It will contain only six episodes.
The series Game of Thrones is based on George RR Martin’s book series A Song of Ice and Fire. The first season was released in spring 2011. It has become one of the most expensive TV projects and received a record number of prestigious Emmy awards.
HBO and writer George RR Martin discuss a concept of Game of Thrones spin-off featuring certain characters from Westeros World. The project will be launched after the popular series ends.
