HBO and writer George Martin discuss a spin-off concept featuring Westeros’s characters.

HBO was earlier reported to consider a potential spin-off of Game of Thrones. Now the plans have been confirmed officially by the network’s representative Casey Bloys, who noted the talks with George Martin were in progress. The author wrote a series of novels A Song of Ice and Fire that was adapted for TV by HBO.

Besides A Song of Ice and Fire, George Martin wrote other novels about the world of Westeros. For example, the spin-off can be based on the series Tales of Dunk and Egg, consisting of three novellas set hundreds of years before the events in Game of Thrones. The series main characters are Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Prince Aegon Targaryen, an ancestor of Daenerys in Game of Thrones.

It remains unknown whether the spin-off will be based on this plot or project authors, scriptwriters and George Martin will choose other ideas. HBO programming president Casey Bloys only confirmed the project was possible, but refused to give any details:

“There are areas we are exploring, but I wouldn’t point to any one and say, ‘This is what we’re going to do,’” he said.

The a href="https://moc.media/en/714">series Game of Thrones will include eight seasons, and the two last ones will consist of only seven and six episodes instead of usual ten. The plot of season 7 recently leaked to the internet.
