The revival of the iconic series will be released in 2017.

In the video arousing the audience’s interest in the upcoming release, the creator of the legendary TV drama is shown as FBI agent Gordon Cole eating a doughnut for 20 seconds. At the end of the teaser, the “Welcome to Twin Peaks’ road sign is shown and the long-awaited season 3 on Showtime is announced.

Judging by the clip, the director and scriptwriter of the series will return to the screen as an actor in the secondary role of detective Gordon Cole, the FBI regional bureau chief and agent Dale Cooper's immediate superior.

Other actors from the original cast are Kyle MacLachlan as agent Cooper, David Duchovny (Dennis Bryson), Mädchen Amick (Shelly Johnson), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs), James Marshall (James Hurley), Russ Tamblyn (Dr. Lawrence Jacoby), Harry Goaz (Deputy Andy Brennan) and Michael Horse (Deputy Hawk). The revival will star the characters from the original series who had previously died – Leland Palmer played by Ray Wise and Jacques Renault played by Walter Olkewicz. David Bowie, who played his character in the film Fire Walk with Me, was to come back as Phillip Jeffries.

The new episodes will feature new Twin Peaks residents played by Sky Ferreira, Amanda Seyfried, Tim Roth, Sherilyn Fenn, Michael Cera, Naomi Watts, Trent Reznor and others. Showtime planned to broadcast the Twin Peaks revival in 2016, but the premiere was delayed. The miniseries will come out in the first half of 2017.

Twin Peaks was aired in 1990-1991 and gained huge popularity in the US and around the world. Rolling Stone included it in its list of the best TV shows of all time. Mark Frost, a co-creator of the series, released the book The Secret History of Twin Peaks to fill the 26-year gap between season 2 and season 3.
