Moscow’s Museum of Contemporary Art Garage was the first Russian museum to shut down due to the COVID-19 spread. Now, it is the first to gradually reopen, the Art Newspaper reports.
On June 10, the museum’s bookshop will reopen. On June 12, the museum’s anniversary, Garage will unveil Kazakh artist Yerbossyn Meldibekov’s project Transformer on on Garage Square.
Meldibekov’s installation as part of Garage Square Commission series is based on the artist’s research into the history of the monuments in Amir Timur Square in Tashkent. The project will be presented online: curator Andrey Misiano will talk to Yerbossyn Meldibekov on Zoom at 7:00pm.
On June 16, the cafe’s outdoor terrace will start working and Garage will completely resume its work. Sekretiki: Digging Up Soviet Underground Culture, 1966–1985 will run until August 2. We Treasure Our Lucid Dreams and Atelier E.B: Passer-by are extended until August 9. The exhibition Monika Sosnowska. Exercises in Construction, Bending will work in the museum’s atrium until July 30.
New projects – 2nd Garage Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art A Beautiful Night for All the People and Tomás Saraceno. Moving Atmospheres – will be unveiled on September 11.
