A group of artists in Minneapolis created a mural to honour 46-year-old George Floyd, who was choked to death by a police office on May 25, Hyperallergic reports.

“I can’t breath,” Floyd was saying while four police officers handcuffed him and pinned to the ground on Monday morning. One of them – Derek Chauvin – pressed his knee over Floyd’s neck until the man stopped moving. The incident was recorded by security cameras.

Floyd was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead at 9:51pm. The police officers involved in the incident were fired next day.

Floyd’s death sparked mass protests in Minneapolis and across the US. Protesters demand the government and courts bring Chauvin to justice and address the issue of police brutality against black Americans. Chauvin was arrested and charged with murder on May 29.

Artists Xena Goldman, Cadex Herrera and Greta McLain created the mural with the help of artists  Niko Alexander and Pablo Hernandez on the corner of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue South in Minneapolis.
