Damien Hirst, one of the world’s most expensive artists, has created a new work to support the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), Artguide reports.
Titled Butterfly Rainbow, it is comprised of bands of coloured butterfly wings, a key motif in Hirst’s art. The work can be downloaded from the artist’s website and placed in people’s windows to show support for the NHS.
Hirst will also release a limited print edition with all profits from the sale donated to the NHS. The artist said: “I wanted to do something to pay tribute to the wonderful work NHS staff are doing in hospitals around the country. The rainbow is a sign of hope and I think it is brilliant that parents and children are creating their own version and putting them up in the windows of their homes.”
