The graffiti was drawn by Yekaterinburg-born, Petersburg-based artist Vladimir Abikh. The Street Art Museum quotes the author on its Instagram page strtartmuseum: “France, hold public trials over Russian artists!” The building with the graffiti is located on 141 Ligovsky Prospekt.
“The Yekaterinburg-born artist mostly works in St Petersburg now. He created a new socially relevant street art piece this weekend,” the caption to the photograph reads.
Petr Pavlensky and his partner Oksana Shalygina were detained in Paris after the artist set fire to the Banque de France. Pavlensky has been in custody since the middle of October.
Petr Pavlensky and Oksana Shalygna were granted political asylum in France after they faced sexual assault accusations in Russia. The couple says the allegations are clearly political.
