The film titled Cyborgs will celebrate the incredible courage and endurance of Ukrainian soldiers.

The film is directed by Crimean Tatar filmmaker Akhtem Seitablaev. He announced the start of shooting on his Facebook account.

“With God’s help, we’ve kicked it off,” the filmmaker wrote under the photo of a plate with names of the film crew.

The film is based on the true story of a two-week mission of a Ukrainian battalion in September 2014. According to the plot, a group of volunteers arrives to defend the Donetsk airport that has been held by cyborgs for the fourth month amid ongoing heavy fighting. Ukrainian soldiers who were defending the airport were called cyborgs for their endurance, invincibility and courage.

Shooting takes place outside Kyiv in a specially constructed film-set of a two-storey airport. The movie is being shot with the support of Ukraine’s State Film Agency that funded the project.
