Designers, stylists and fashion experts agree that breasts will be in spotlight in the coming season.
Judging by the recent collections presented by fashion designers, all attention in new season will be given to breasts. It can be confirmed by the fact how models and celebrities, who traditionally set the tone in fashion, accepted the new designs. Vogue already declared the cleavage over. But the décolletage doesn’t disappear forever. On the contrary, it is transforming to show even more. The new season will have echoes of the wild and free 1970s, and low necklines will be replaced by even lower cuts and bare breasts.
Ultra-cropped tops, never-before-seen low cuts, sheer blouses – anything laying emphasis on breasts will come into fashion this season. Sheer dresses or outfits hardly covering models’ breasts seem to appear at fashion shows more and more often. Similar designs are not new, but now more and more TV stars and popular models feel brave to wear them, telling the public that showing off boobs is not a shame but a fashion thing.
An additional focus on the bust can have a sociopolitical role. Protests against bras at the dawn of the feminist movement were a symbol of women’s liberation. In a similar way, bare breasts can emphasise women’s independence and freedom today. The trend may become especially relevant as a response to ultraconservative policy, for example, in Poland or to blatant sexists’ rise to power, for example, in the US.
Many world-renowned fashion designers, including Valentino, Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani and Vivienne Westwood, have revealing outfits and designs that put focus on breasts in their latest collections. Superpopular models Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner wore similar outfits at the Dior couture show last week. Actress Claire Foy, who played Elizabeth II in The Crown, had courage to put on a sheer Valentino dress at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
