The election takes place today, November 8, and the coverage will be streamed online.

Google already gives detailed information for Americans on where and when they can vote. After polls close, users will be able to find election results integrated into Google searches in more than 30 languages. Other voting results will be available, as US citizens also elect Congress members, governors and vote in state-level referenda.

YouTube, for its part, will broadcast election results coverage from a number of news agencies and TV companies. At 00:00 GMT, live coverage from NBC, PBS, MTV, Bloomberg and Telemundo will begin. YouTube is going to carry out the #voteIRL campaign during the day calling on voters to post selfies from polls and to show videos reminding US citizens to vote.

For the last few months, Google has been helping users find information about the democratic procedure, voter registration, voting process, election details in each political entity and addresses of polling places. All information was available to US users at the top of the search page tailored to their location. The information was provided in two languages – English and Spanish. Google reports a 233% increase in traffic for the search on “how to vote” compared to the 2012 presidential election.
