Emojis of male and female singers with a lighting bolt painted on their faces will appear in the new Apple update.
The pictograms will be available to all Apple users who update their mobile devices to 10.2. The “singer” emojis come among other 16 icons depicting various professions. Female and male versions are available. The singer emojis were inspired by the cover of Bowie’s 1973 album Aladdin Sane, where he is depicted with a lighting bolt across his face.
The long awaited “face palm” emoji was added to the fresh batch alongside other gestures, like a shoulder shrug and a fist pump. Other emojis include food, like a croissant and a gherkin, and animals, like a moose, a duck and a gorilla. New profession icons feature firefighters, astronauts, farmers, cooks and teachers.
Last week, the original set of 176 emojis was added to the permanent collection of New York City’s Museum of Modern Art.
