She allows you to look at various art pieces from both the artistic perspective and the economic perspective. What interesting, is the fact of Russian identity in the cost of art, according to Ms. MacDougall there is clear definition between Russian Art and World Art. The cost of Russian artists somehow depreciates due to the them being Russian, while the costs of “Russian artists” who are now considered to be “World artists”, for example Malevich on the contrary appreciate. This as the result poses interesting questions of the worth of actual art vs. the price of the name or the brand. Ekaterina is very interesting to hear in regards to her first auction not going well, she compares the experience of failing at the start of a business to rape, when victims try to escape they are statistically proven to recover faster. This was very similar to her going back into the business despite initial pitfall. Through her experience we can take a lot of inspiration to move forward despite the issues we might face at the start.

About Monologue for Two
An inspiring short film interview series spanning generations and cross-pollinating subjects, brought to you by 16 year old Daniella Kaliada who explains, “I'm 16 years old and I am a political refugee in the UK. Four years ago I was smuggled out of Belarus with my parents during the dictatorship’s deadly election crackdown. Living in London, I finally discovered freedom and have come to understand that it is multifaceted. In this interview series I ask luminaries in their field, how they came to do what they do and advice they can give my generation. As I approach leaving school and getting on in the world, I seek to understand the lessons learned by previous generations and the wisdom they can pass on.”
