Dialogues with Nicolai Khalezin. Oksana Shalygina
Oksana Shalygina is an associate and colleague of Russian performance artist Petr Pavlensky. She is invisibly involved in all Petr’s performances, doing an enormous amount of work as an artist manager and speaking to the media.
Oksana is a person who firmly stands by her principles and consistently supports her partner. Their alliance is one of the examples of staying true to each other both in their creative work and in asserting their right to a model of life, from which all government institutions are being removed step by step.
In this dialogue Nicolai Khalezin and Oksana Shalygina talk about the performance artist’s inner workings, their radical minimalist lifestyle, rights in today’s Russia and a cut off finger.
Oksana and Petr have two daughters and live in Saint Petersburg.
