Monologue for Two: Zinovy Zinik

Zinovy Zinik was born and grew up in Moscow. He has been living in London since 1976. He writes in Russian and English. He is a regular contributor to the Times Literary Supplement and the BBC Radio.

His recent books published in Russian in Moscow include a collection of essays Emigration as a Literary Device (NLO, 2011), Third Jerusalem (NLO, 2013). Zinik’s new novel in English titled Sounds Familiar or The Beast of Artek (Divus, 2016) was published in London. Zinovy Zinik is the author of 14 prose books translated into a number of European languages. His most famous novel The Mushroom Picker was adapted for the screen by the BBC in 1993. His novels The Lord and the Gamekeeper (1991) and Meeting the Original (1997) were nominated for the Russian Booker Prize in the 1990s. Zinik is the author of a collection of essays Emigration as a Literary Device (NLO, 2011) about literature and problems of emigration.
