Both videos were shown at San Diego Comic-Con in California.
According to Comic-Con organiserss plans, the most long-awaited releases were presented on the last day of the festival – July 24. We already reported about the trailer for the fourth, and probably the last, season of Sherlock, the BBC’s crime series. And here is a teaser for the new season of Game of Thrones, which, according to vague remarks by its authors and writers, may be the last, too.
HBO’s two-minute video doesn’t contain any familiar characters or hints at the storyline. It is about the behind-the-scenes process, props and the writers’ work. So, the teaser’s message is: “Get prepared and look forward, the first episode of season seven is already in production.” As with other teasers, the aim of the video is to stir viewers’ interest and fuel the ongoing buzz over the characters and the future of HBO’s television hit.
A blooper reel from season six is supposed to relieve the painful anticipation and help bear the absence of favourite characters on screens. It came out two days before the teaser release on the series official Youtube channel:
As the previous season of Game of Thrones, season seven will be based mostly on original material currently not found in George Martin’s books. It will be released a little later than usual – in summer 2017, though the previous premieres were in spring. Another feature is the number of episodes – seven instead of ten.
The series creators already announced the new season would be filmed in Northern Ireland, Spain and Iceland. The authors need severe weather conditions, because winter has come in the series. Most scenes will be shot in northern countries, and shooting, which will begin in Northern Ireland, was delayed for a short period until August 2016.
