Gallery David Zwirner (New York – London – Paris – Hong Kong) offers 12 small New York-based galleries its online viewing rooms. The project aims to alleviate the financial stress during the pandemic, Artguide reports.

The joint display titled Platform: New York will run from April 3 to May 1, 2020.

Each of the participating galleries will display two works by a single artist, which will allow them to bypass the expensive process of creating their own online showroom from scratch. David Zwirner offers the viewing room for free and does not take commission on sales.

The Platform project will continue in London. Details will be announced later.

Zwirner has long advocated for larger galleries to help the smaller ones that form the bedrock of the art industry. In 2018, he called on large galleries to create a system to compensate smaller spaces for costs of art fair participation.
