In the video, the series stars and producers say how important it is to take action and change the world together.
The video features Elisabeth Moss, Samira Wiley, Ann Dowd and other cast members of Hulu’s series. They call on viewers to visit Change.org and help “change laws and push for policies that improve people’s lives.”
“No one looked up till it was too late,” Elisabeth Moss says as the video opens. The words refer to the dystopian series set in a post-apocalyptic future where women are used to bear children for rich families. The video encourages people to be proactive rather than try to tackle negative consequences of unsuccessful political decisions.
HuffPost quotes Change.org’s A.J. Walton who emphasised the value of “everyday people taking action on the issues that shape our society.” He added: “As the world’s largest petition platform and hub for civic organizing, we’re thrilled to team up with the cast and producers of The Handmaid’s Tale. Art and social causes are intertwined [...] viewers want and crave the ability to keep a story moving long after the end credits.”
The series cast and Change.org teamed up a few days before the show was nominated for 13 Emmy awards. The series is based on Canadian writer Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel of the same name.
