A trailer for a film about J.D. Salinger has been released.
The film titled Rebel in the Rye focuses on the writer and his book’s character, who became iconic for several generations.
The movie is based on the writer’s biography J. D. Salinger: A Life by Kenneth Slawenski. The film will show how the novel Catcher in he Rye was created. Salinger’s novel reflects his own feelings – complex relationship with his father, fighting in World War II, romantic relationships and disappointments.
The movie is directed by Danny Strong, who is known for two installments in The Hunger Games film series. The writer will be played by actor Nicholas Hoult, his professor and mentor at Columbia University, editor of the Story magazine Whit Burnett will be portrayed by Kevin Spacey. The film also stars Victor Garber, Zoey Deutch, Sarah Paulson, Lucy Boynton, Hope Davis and Brian d'Arcy James. The release is scheduled for September 15.
